Submarine turbine technology may very well be the 'wave' of the future for coastal community power generation. I attended my alma mater UMass Dartmouth's marine tech symposium earlier this year and was very excited for Bourne and the Upper Cape when I heard the Lieutenant Governor's passionate support for these projects and specifically the Cape Cod Canal project near Mass Maritime Academy.
It's unfortunate and short-sighted that the Governor didn't discuss his pending rejection of state funding during his commencement remarks at MMA.
If elected to the state legislature, I would fight tirelessly to restore this funding, advocate for the study and bring a viable, clean & renewable energy generation project that would attract international investment to the Canal region, Cape Cod and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. We can't afford to miss this opportunity from an energy, environmental or economic development perspective.
