Rooting for Matt!

I hope 3rd Barnstable District voters in Bourne, Falmouth and Mashpee will join me in supporting Matt Patrick for state representative. Matt is a proven leader who knows how the Statehouse functions and will work for our benefit. He will carry our concerns to Beacon Hill and fight for resources for our towns. Matt is concerned about income inequality and will work to make sure that families have access to affordable health care and housing. He supports a $15 minimum wage and the 4% tax on income above $1 million.  Matt supports clean energy and economic development. Matt represents our shared values, and it's important to have him fighting for us; fighting for fairness, fighting for equality, and fighting for the environment.

In closing, I want to thank the many people from Mashpee, Falmouth and my hometown of Bourne who voted for me in the state primary in September. I remain grateful to all of you who helped and encouraged and believed in our race and our vision for a better Upper Cape Cod. Now I am asking you -- let's send Matt Patrick back to the Statehouse, because we can still do great things Together.

August is off to a great start

Campaigning in Bourne, Mashpee and Falmouth, we ran into a friend from MBA class, celebrated tribal youth, got a great haircut to support ALS ONE, and had an overall fabulous weekend.

Grandpa Sid and his Purple Heart

My grandfather, Chief Master Sergeant Sidney Roark, enjoyed a lifelong career in the US Air Force. His military duties brought my family from North Carolina to Cape Cod when he served as the air traffic control chief. He earned several recognitions during his career, but the one that always stood out above all of the others to me as a young grandchild was his Purple Heart. I knew you had to do something really special to have this recognition conferred upon you, and it wasn't given lightly. I'll always be proud of grandpa Sid for his distinguished service.

If Trump really understood the significance of the Purple Heart, and the challenges, the blood, sweat & tears that our brave men & women in uniform endure in service to this country, he would have done the honorable thing. He would have shaken that man's hand, maybe even given a heartfelt hug, truly thanked him for his service and sacrifice, acknowledged his gesture and returned the award that he hadn't earned.

A turbo-charged Cape Cod Canal?

Submarine turbine technology may very well be the 'wave' of the future for coastal community power generation. I attended my alma mater UMass Dartmouth's marine tech symposium earlier this year and was very excited for Bourne and the Upper Cape when I heard the Lieutenant Governor's passionate support for these projects and specifically the Cape Cod Canal project near Mass Maritime Academy.

It's unfortunate and short-sighted that the Governor didn't discuss his pending rejection of state funding during his commencement remarks at MMA.

If elected to the state legislature, I would fight tirelessly to restore this funding, advocate for the study and bring a viable, clean & renewable energy generation project that would attract international investment to the Canal region, Cape Cod and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. We can't afford to miss this opportunity from an energy, environmental or economic development perspective.
